Dear Big Sister,
I know I am little and do things that seem babyish to you. Please don’t be too cool for me.
Spend a little bit of your time doing things with me that you have outgrown. Share your music with me, dance with me, let me try to copy your hairstyles, allow me to hang around you and your friends during sleepovers and stuff. Even if for a little while and if we are all having fun, let me stick around a little longer.
Big sister, when I ask you to play silly games please try to remember how much fun you had doing the silly things I am now just now beginning to discover. I’ll be a teenager soon too but I don’t understand that yet so save a piece of your younger self in your back pocket, so we can be equals for a few minutes everyday. I’ll continuously be reaching to be years older than I am to be closer to you. It’s nearly impossible but I will still try. You’ll think I am annoying. I’ll get frustrated. Be patient with me.
Someday there will be things that I am better at than you, we may even have different styles, like different music, movies, and hobbies but how you treat me now will determine how close we are when we grow up. Make time for me and I will learn to give you space, keep your secrets, and be a soft place to land when life gets tough.
Here is some photographic proof of how much I love you and how good being an awesome big sister looks on you. You’re beautiful.
Love, Your Little Sister.
How cute are these two?!
On the flipside, this article is sweet.
